Canola requires four times more land to produce the same quantity of vegetable oil as a hectare of palm oil does. Palm oil is the most efficient oil crop available, giving between 4 and 10 times higher yield than all other oil crops.

Palm oil delivers between 35%-40% of the world’s vegetable oil on only 6% of oil croplands. This is important when considering the growing needs of a global population. To meet the world’s demand for vegetable oils using any other crop means between 4 and 10 times more land would be required…and just imagine what that would mean in terms of the ecology and environment!?
